Book Tour: Strawberry by Lena Fox Excerpt

Strawberry - PROMO Blitz
By Lena Fox
Paranormal Romance Erotica
Date to be Published: 7/31/2013

An out of work actress can find herself in some shady situations. For Kitty French, some raunchy role-playing gone wrong lands her in the clutches of an honest-to-god vampire who decides she’s the tastiest of them all. Being a bloodsucker’s ongoing meal plan is not high on her wish list, no matter how searingly sexy he is. Will she escape from his cold lips alive, and will she still want to?

A bite sized, steamy, paranormal romance, Strawberry is a novella of 33,000 words, about a third the length of a normal novel.

EXCERPT
I was supine, pinned down, at the mercy of three vampires. It’s okay. They aren’t real. Just men playing a game.
A tongue licked across the lowest point of my neck, right where my pulse beat. A frisson of desire ran through my body, startling me.
They crowded around the table, crawling up onto it to get better access to me. A hot mouth sucked at the flesh of my right breast where the gown left it bare. I gasped at the sensation and then screamed. I wanted to strike the man off me but kept in character. This is what I was being paid for. I knew what I was in for.
Then the first man bit me.
They didn’t bite hard but they weren’t exactly gentle either. That’s going to leave a mark. I was sprawled on the table, teeth nipping at me in three places. Their plaything. I could feel arousal beginning and I could not believe it. It really had been a long time since I’d had any action. My nipples were hardening as the heated hands tangled into my hair and warm tongues slid across my skin. Fake fangs pulled at the bared flesh of my cleavage, arms and neck. Little shivers stole up and down my spine, making me whimper and a delicious ache built between my thighs. I had just about decided that I really needed to get laid when an icy finger ran up my thigh, yanking me out of the delectable stupor I had tumbled into. I felt a cold nose press against my neck and breathe deeply. I heard a small grunt of desire.
“This one is mine.”
My eyelids, gone heavy during the biting, slammed open to see my vampires falling back, their faces gone blank. It looked like someone had just reached in and erased them from within.
A new man stood above me, silhouetted by the dim scarlet glow of the lamp behind him.
The primal instinct to escape invaded me again and I tried to scramble back across the table, but the dead, cold hands dragged me back and up into his arms.
Then teeth sunk deep into my neck.

Book Tour: Seven Seals Series by Traci Douglass Excerpt

Seal Of Surrender Seven Seals Series: Book 2
Traci Douglass
Genre: Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy
Publisher: Crimson Romance
Number of pages: approx. 270
Word Count: 72,000

Book Description:
Love, like War, will always find a way…

War has shaped every aspect of Irena Soldan’s life—her childhood, her work, her DNA. Unaware she is the genetic host of the second Seal of the Apocalypse, Irena battles for those who cannot fight for themselves. As a top human-rights operative for The Omega Consortium, her company provides both the financial backing required to undertake her task and a charismatic, publicity-loving boss to promote her cause. Life proceeds on plan for Irena until a mysterious, sexy stranger arrives claiming to be her guardian and Irena’s path takes a sudden, inauspicious turn for both the erotic and the lethal.

Chago has always been the quiet one amongst his warrior Scion brethren—the brooding, Spanish combat expert with a hidden soft side.  A member of Divinity’s covert special forces, he’s protected humanity for more than a millennium. Still, his greatest joy comes not from the battlefield, but from tending the cattle herd on his remote Montana ranch.

Irena’s new assignment takes her straight to the heart of a bloody civil conflict in Sub-Saharan Africa and Chago’s mission demands he follow. Expecting a seething cauldron of female whoop-ass, he instead discovers a harbinger of peace amidst a world of ever-increasing violence. The explosively tense situation is further magnified by the cunning Omega Consortium leader, his ambiguous personal agenda, and an ancient foe whose audacious rise to power threatens the world’s very existence.

Despite the cataclysmic circumstances, an undeniable attraction ignites between Chago and Irena. Together, they must unravel the ancient puzzle of the Seals and discover her employer’s ulterior plans before they both become casualties of War. Soon, both are forced to choose between a past riddled with old torments or risk everything they treasure on a love capable of defeating evil incarnate.

 Excerpt:
Something rustled in the nearby bushes, commanding Chago’s attention. “Show yourself!”
A figure broke through the brush, looming just beyond of reach of the torch. Chago inched closer and leaned into the blackness.
Inhuman snarls shredded the silence. Decay and moist earth reeked from the unwelcome intruder. Torchlight glinted off rows of impossibly long teeth shoved sardine- tight into a gaping, circular mouth reminiscent of a pool drain. Archon.
Chago focused on the abomination before him and struggled to keep his tone calm. “Innocent, get everyone together and leave.”
Innocent hesitated.
Goddammit. He stepped closer and speared his host a furious glare, his patience at an end. He’d not allow Archon anywhere near Irena. “Now!”
Innocent handed over the shotgun and rushed inside to herd the others out the backdoor.
Equipped with a weapon in each hand and an endless supply of vengeance, Chago stepped off the porch. “C’mon, you sack of shit! Fight me!”
Archon swung at him and Chago took a reflexive step back. Fangs were the only sharp feature on his opponent’s face. The rest of the bastard’s mug resembled a crazy quilt of purplish-gray scars and bulging yellow eyes. Whatever other terrors Lucifer fashioned, his son was a whole mess of ugly. Killing him would be an act of mercy.
He raised the shotgun and fired. The bullet ricocheted off Archon’s thick hide, ineffective. Aimed for the head and tried again. This time, Chago clipped what appeared to be an already mangled ear. Smelly, greenish slime oozed forth. Archon grunted but continued advancing.
Shit. He tossed the gun aside and sliced ahead with his dagger. Archon parried with razor-sharp claws. Together, they circled in a macabre recital of the death ballet. A mottled hand swung close and Chago ducked then thrust his blade up toward what he hoped was his opponent’s chest. Missed. Fuck. He’s miscalculated Archon. Again.
Archon’s massive arm struck Chago on the side of the head and knocked him to the ground. Pain exploded through his nervous system as a scalpel-sharp claw cleaved across his thigh. Archon roared, his breath a putrid cocktail of human waste.
Santo Cristo. He struggled against his opponent’s overwhelming grip. Numerous assaults slashed his chest, his neck and soon the blood loss made him easy quarry. Death called to Chago for the second time in twenty-four hours and once again it promised to hurt like hell.
Into the silent pause before his demise came a soft echo of reprieve—the snick of a cocked gun.
“Move away or I’ll blow your head off, asshole!” Irena’s ironclad tone carried across the humid air.
Archon turned and she shot. Green slime splattered, falling from his wounded mouth as he stumbled, tripping in his rush to escape. He gave a final shout of defiance before disappearing into the brush.
Through a pain-induced haze, Chago marveled at the precision of Irena’s strike. She’d hit the abomination square in its soft spot. Maybe he’d underestimated her.

Plus, his briefing fails to prepare him for his new target’s cosmic-sized attitude problem.  As Divinity’s sworn servant, he’s required to fulfill his duty. Accustomed to staunch independence, Mira’s survival now requires full cooperation and an unwavering belief in Kagan. The battle-hardened warrior is also forced to chose: between duty and desire. Book Tour: A Man Like Him by Rachel Brimble Interview & Giveaway

BLURB:
Changing her life...again

After two years in hiding, Angela Taylor knows her independence is worth it. As long as she can escape her past, she has everything under control. Until a flash flood hits the park where she works, and hot Chris Forrester shows up the exact moment she needs a hero.

Chris proves he can save lives-and weaken a girl's knees. But how can she make him understand that she's off-limits, that getting close to her will endanger his life? Her happiness or his safety: it shouldn't even be a choice.

Because when you love someone, you protect them, no matter the cost. At least, that's what Angela keeps telling herself....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
Their eyes locked and Chris’ gaze dropped to her mouth. It fell ajar and her tongue poked out to wet her bottom lip. He snatched his gaze back to the sky. They were in the middle of a disaster situation. They were reaching out to each other for support. Nothing more. Nothing less. So why the hell was his heart beating like a damn jackhammer?
He shielded his eyes against the sun and prayed to God she hadn’t seen his need to kiss her. He focused on the helicopters. “Damn it.”
She shifted beside him and he felt her gaze on him once more. “What is it?”
“They’re not going to be any help to the people stranded in the trees.”
“Of course--”
“Those vultures aren’t going to do a damn bit of good. Where are the rescue teams?”
“What are you talking about? What vultures?”
“Can’t you see?” He shot his arm toward the sky as frustration hummed along his nerve endings. “They’re TV helicopters. A fat lot of bloody help--”
“TV cameras? Oh, my God.”
Chris turned. Her face grew ashen and she swayed back on her heels, her eyes wide with terror. She gripped his forearm. “Help me. Don’t let them see me. You have to do something.”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“Chris, please. Help me.”
Without thinking, he pulled her into his arms and she buried her face into his chest. He brought one hand to the back of her head, the other to the small of her back and pulled her close. She fit the contours of his body like she was meant to be there.
He held her tight. “What is it? What’s wrong?”
She shook her head against his chest. “It’s over. It’s all over.”
The helicopters circled one more time and then flew away, disappearing over the horizon once more. “They’ve gone. Angela? Look at me. What is it?”
She pulled back and tears slipped over her lower lids and down her cheeks. “I’m dead. He’s coming. He’s coming and this time he’ll kill me.”
He gripped her forearms, adrenaline filling his blood on a protective wave. “Who will? What are you talking about?”
She closed her eyes. “My husband.”
INTERVIEW:
  1. Where did you get the idea for the novel?
The idea for this book was inspired by the real-life experience of me and my family being rescued by helicopter from a hotel roof during the 2010 French floods. It took me two years after the event to come up with the right story to use that terrifying time in the right way. As with most stories, it started with the ‘what if?’ question – what if my heroine was in hiding and got caught up in a tragedy that meant she was photographed by the national press? Thus leading to the man she was running from to know exactly where to find her?
  1. Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title?
The working title for this book was ‘Running Through The Rain’ – terrible, right? Titles are my nemesis, I hate them! Luckily, Harlequin often choose their titles so A Man Like Him was chosen for me and I really like it. It suits the heroic and true character of my hero, Chris Forrester.
  1. Why did you pick this genre? What do you like about it?
Romantic suspense is my favorite genre to read (as well as historical) so I have really loved writing these first two books in the series. Having said that, the next book in the series is mainstream romance. I just love to be versatile!
  1. Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?
Every book I have had accepted has been exciting to me and that excitement never lessens with each contract offer. Having said that, the day my agent emailed me to say Harlequin had accepted Finding Justice (book one in the series), I promptly burst into tears. It was a dream come true to write for them. Since then I have signed for four more books with Harlequin as well as four Victorian romances with eKensington. It’s been an amazing couple of years!
  1. What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?
I usually have at least two books on the go at once, sometimes three. I am currently reading The Dark Fire by C J Sansom. This is an ongoing mystery series set in the Tudor times featuring a hunchback sleuth named Shardlake. He is just a wonderful character. Also, I am reading my very first Jill Shalvis romance (I know, shame on me), Simply Irresistible, which I just LOVE. Completely my sort of romance and her hero, Jax Cullen…I have no words except YUM!!!
  1. What is your writing process?
I start each book with a tiny nugget of an idea – most often, a scenario such as the flood that started A Man Like Him, or a fight for ownership of a fairground which sparked the idea for book number three in the Harlequin series (What Belongs To Her – March 2014). I then start the ‘what if?’ game which often brings forth my hero and heroine. I then complete character sketches for each of them (and the villain if one emerges). After than, it’s a 2-3 page synopsis, sometimes a rough chapter plan, before I dive straight into the first draft. I write the first draft from start to finish without looking back – the mess is hopefully straightened out in drafts two and three. I usually complete a book in three drafts.
  1. At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?
I’ve yet to hold a book signing! Is that bad? I am such a nervous person and so far have avoided booksignings and giving talks. However, it’s on my ‘to do’ list to at least take my first baby steps by the end of the year. I plan on asking some of my fellow RNA (UK RWA equivalent) members if they would consider joining me on a panel and giving a talk at some local libraries and bookshops. I’m just not brave enough to go it alone, lol!
  1. What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
One thing I’ve answered above, my fear of public speaking is absolutely paralyzing and the other is that I haven’t had my hair cut professionally for 15 years. My husband occasionally gives it a trim with the kitchen scissors before the baton was passed to my 14 year old daughter last time J
  1. How do you react to a bad review?
With a large glass of wine! There’s very little you can do about a bad review – the book is finished and it’s out there. I try not to let me get it down but it’s hard when you know many people buy books based on reviews. I wish reviewers who write scathing reviews would remember that the choice and enjoyment of reading material is entirely subjective.
  1. How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
See above…with a large glass of wine! There’s definitely a running theme of chilled white wine in my life. I find you have reason to enjoy a glass quite often come evening ;)
Author of I Remember
Have you ever dreamed that you’ve lived another life – possible reincarnation?  Did you ever find yourself inexplicably drawn to another person without any understanding why – true soul mates?  Can you do things that defy explanation, like encroach on another’s dreams or see things before they happen?  Do you feel an unwelcome presence lurking in the shadows and wonder why things always seem to go wrong in your life?  Have you ever felt you were part of some greater destiny, but just didn’t know what?
If you answered yes, to any of these questions, then you will want to take the journey of a lifetime with Jordan Carlisle and Gregory Riley in the book, I Remember.  It is my debut book, first in the Remembrance Series.
I Remember is a classic love story, with a hint of the supernatural; that traverses time to understand the mystery surrounding the dreams of a past life.  It attempts to uncover why and how of Jordan and Gregory’s past.
Jordan and Gregory are guided by an unearthly visionary to help solve the wrongs of their past to prepare them for a possible future together.  Can they figure where their fate went astray and who is responsible; continually causing chaos in their lives?  Only time will tell if they can put the pieces together and “Remember”.
This is the first in a four part series that will take Jordan and Gregory through various aspects of their lives, both present and past, in order to prepare them for a potential future.  They are the strongest hope of fulfilling an ancient prophecy, which will hopefully drive back the evil forces of the witch and her dark spirits.
She met her friend, love, soul mate and married him. Together they have an amazing son, a feisty four-legged little boy, and a happy life together. Book Tour: A Crazy Homecoming by Cate Baylor
A Crazy Homecoming - PROMO Blitz
By Cate Baylor
Contemporary Romance
Date to be Published: 8/1/2013
Getting fired over a workplace meltdown was bad enough, but getting dumped at the exact same time by her boyfriend-slash-boss was the ultimate humiliation. With no real friends in L.A. and perennially absent parents, Daphne Simms has no one to turn to. To heal her heart, she runs to the only true home she’s ever known—her grandmother’s rural Texas ranch, called Crazy. She knows ranch folks will be a far cry from those she's known in L.A., but she certainly doesn’t expect to be greeted by a cranky cowboy shoving a shotgun in her face.
Mick Williams has lived and worked on Crazy for twenty years. Though he’s utterly devoted to Daphne’s grandmother, he’ll be damned if he’s gonna let a city slicker like Daphne sashay in and disrupt his nice, quiet life. When the future of Crazy is threatened, Mick and Daphne must join forces to keep the ranch afloat, but the heat of their attraction makes working together more complicated than either of them imagines.
When their physical and emotional connection deepens, Mick tries to turn away from the woman he’s convinced he doesn’t deserve, so Daphne has to pull out all the stops to convince him that the heart of Crazy is big enough for the both of them.
EXCERPT
Before Mick could tell him to piss off, Daphne extricated herself from the arms of her eager dance partner, lurched back to the table, and grabbed Raney’s drink.
“Whew! That’s more work than it looks like.” She wiped her forehead and theatrically rested her head on Raney’s shoulder. Mick took one more swig of his beer, set it down forcefully, and pushed himself away from the table. He reached behind Raney and grabbed Daphne’s arm, pulling her toward the dance floor.
Daphne looked up at him in surprise. He circled his arm around her waist and rumbled, “It's my turn now. I'm tired of watching you dance with other men."
She stuttered and resisted. “I don’t know this one.”
He leaned in, so close his lips were almost touching her ear. So close he could smell her shampoo and the scent of her laundry detergent. It only added to the fire burning in the pit of his stomach. "It's not hard, Daphne. I lead. You follow. Your body knows the rest."
He felt her moment of surrender. He pulled her close, held her there for a beat longer than he needed to, then whisked her into the dance.
The intimacy of dancing with her, of staring into her eyes for minutes on end without speaking, was practically heart stopping. The quick beat ended and was replaced by a slow song. She began to step away, but he tightened his grip around her waist and tucked her right hand under his on his chest.
As they started swaying to the crooning love song, she rested her head on his
shoulder and let him lead. With her wrapped in his arms, their bodies moving in tandem, he closed his eyes and rested his cheek on her head. He was lost, pulled into the bubble of their own little world.
As the song ended, they leaned back to look in each other’s eyes. He stroked the back of his fingers down the side of her face and cradled her jaw in his hand. She licked her bottom lip and that was all the invitation he needed. As he leaned in for a kiss, they were interrupted by a shrill, "Well, well, well, bless my soul, if it isn’t my cousin, Daphne!"
If Sissy was a man, he might’ve punched her then and there for her bad timing. Daphne stepped back and turned around. Sissy was dressed to the nines, watching them with one hand on her hip and a haughty smirk on her overly done-up face. "Oh, I'm sorry," she crowed. "Did I interrupt something?"
Mick forced a smile and said, "Of course not. Good to see you, Sissy."
"Uh huh, I bet." she quipped. She sidled closer and in her high heels towered over Daphne. "Daddy told me the big news.”
Daphne asked, “What news?”
“What do you mean, ‘what news?’” Sissy screeched. “I don’t know what Nana was thinking, handing over the ranch to you. To you, instead of her boys who have lived here since they were born. It’s beyond me."
Straightening up to her tallest, Daphne responded tightly, "I'm sure she has her reasons."
Sissy stuck her finger in Daphne’s face. "I don't know what lies or promises you've been feeding her since you got here, missy, but I'm here to tell you that you won't get away with it. That ranch is my family's birthright, not yours. I'm not about to let some crazy old bat hand it off to her city slicker granddaughter." She glanced up at Mick and added, "Much less one who's cavorting with the hired help."
Mick had known Sissy going on twenty years and she hadn’t changed. She’d always been a shrill, calculating, self-centered woman. He’d learned to tolerate her vanity and mischief, even if it did annoy the hell out of him. Sometimes that tolerance was harder to manage than others, but even if they weren’t teens anymore he still wasn’t going to hit a girl. He put his hand at the small of Daphne’s back and tried to steer her toward the doors. He looked around, hoping Raney or Danny was around to intercede.
Daphne sputtered angrily. “Hired help?”
Mick felt her step away from him so he looked back, and damned if she didn’t launch herself at Sissy. She swiped and clawed like a cat. When that didn’t work, she lunged and swung like a boxer. “You conniving bitch!”
Mick quickly grabbed at Daphne, knocking her punch off course so she only dealt a glancing blow to Sissy’s head. That only pissed her off more and she lunged again. He wrapped his arms around her waist and hauled her off.
Danny and Scotty appeared, and Mick heard Danny saying, “Back off, Sissy!” But Sissy scrambled back to Daphne’s side, pointing and waving her hands around, shrieking so fast and slurred Mick couldn’t make out what she was saying.
Raney joined them and he hissed, “Let’s get the hell out of here.” Raney was in front of Daphne pulling her toward the door, and Mick pushed her from behind, trying to keep the women off of each other.
Finally he gave up and hauled Daphne up over his shoulder like a sack of beans. All the way out to the truck, she rapped on his back and shoulders, spewing inventive curses at him. He decided he didn’t mind so much, though, as he steadied her weight with his palm on her fine ass.
