Stuck in a Good Book Giveaway Hop featuring Melissa Parkin

Welcome to my stop in the Stuck in a Good Book Giveaway Hop! A quick thank you to Stuck in Books & I Am A Reader for hosting this giveaway hop! And a big thank you to Melissa Parkin for sponsoring this stop of the hop with her newest book!
Blurb:
The last thing sixteen-year-old Cassie Foster needs is trouble, but that doesn’t stop him from finding her.

Nine months after the tragic accident that killed her mother and sister, this high school junior just wants a fresh start. Settling down in the quiet town of New Haven, Maine, she’s found peace at last…until the new resident bad boy, Jackson Matthews, comes into the picture. Arrogant, sarcastic, and devastatingly sexy, he’s the very last thing Cassie wants to entertain. Romance was never part of the plan. But when terrifying circumstances drive these two together, she finds herself further in over her head than thought possible. As local girls begin disappearing, Cassie can’t help but wonder if it’s just a coincidence that everything started when this blue-eyed Casanova strolled into town. Will falling into Jackson’s arms mean she’ll be falling victim to a real lady-killer…or worse?

The answer will open the door to a world she never thought possible.

Raining Romance Giveaway Hop featuring Heather Wardell

Hello & Welcome to my stop on the Raining Romance Books Giveaway Hop. A big thank you to the host of this giveaway hop StuckInBooks. And to the sponsor of my giveaway Heather Wardell! THANK YOU! Three (3) readers will win an e-copy (1) of the following book!

BLURB:
The fiercely private Madeleine-Cora Spencer is the last person who should be on a reality TV show, but when she's shunned by a friend's new wife because "you can't trust desperate single women" her pain and humiliation drive her straight to the "Find Your Prince" dating show's web site.

Armed with date-appropriate clothes and a detailed game plan she arrives to meet her potential loves, only to be dumped... on a remote island with seven ex-boyfriends.

Seven exes! Could this be any worse?

INTERVIEW:
1. Where did you get the idea for the novel?
I was watching TV and saw a commercial for "Survivor", and thought, "That'd be bad, but it'd be worse if you knew and didn't like everyone on your team." That eventually turned into "your whole team is exes".

2. Is there a message in your novel that you want your readers to grasp?
Push past your discomfort and go for what matters to you.

3. Why did you pick this genre? What do you like about it?
I think it picked me! I have always loved reading about real-life women and their struggles, so when I started writing that's how my books came out. I love inventing characters who feel like they could be your friends.

4. Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?
Meeting readers! I've done it twenty times, in cities all over the US (http://heatherwardell.com/extras-meetups.shtml to see pictures!) and every time it's amazing.

5. What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?
I finished one and read two others today (so lovely to have a free day to read!): "Accidentally Married" by Victorine E. Lieske, "The Mysterious Bakery on Rue Du Paris" by Evie Gaughan, and I reread my own "Go Small or Go Home".

6. At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?
All of my signings have been small groups so far, so by the time I get to the signing stage I know the people well enough to write something funny or sweet based on what they've said. On the rare occasion that I don't, I thank them for being a reader and end with "Happy Reading!" because that's what I wish for them.

7. What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
Though I may not look the type, I have six tattoos. (One being the one from "Life, Love, and a Polar Bear Tattoo", and the rest being either polar bears or stars or polar bears AND stars.)

8. How do you react to a bad review?
I don't read my Amazon reviews because I think they're for readers not for me, but I do read all blogger reviews. I am sorry I've disappointed a reader when a blogger doesn't love my book, but I take from the review whatever I can use to make the next book better and try hard not to let it bother me. (Challenging sometimes but I do try!)

9. How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I am not good at celebrating, and since I put my first book up as a free download on my own I didn't really have it as a sale. My favorite celebration to date is what I did on the 5th anniversary of that book ("Life, Love, and a Polar Bear Tattoo", still a free download from my site!): I got the polar bears from its cover tattooed on my arm. :)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Heather is a natural 1200 wpm speed reader and the author of sixteen self-published novels including the free ebook "Life, Love, and a Polar Bear Tattoo" which has had over 385,000 downloads.
She came to writing after careers as a software developer and elementary school computer teacher and has no plans to leave it.
In her spare time, she reads, runs, swims, crochets, takes care of her aquarium and her cat Trinity, and plays drums and clarinet. Generally not all at once.
This picture, taken by and licensed from Martin Russell of PixelMagic Digital Photography, was used in the program for Heather's first musical as a drummer ("Fame! The Musical") in February 2012.

Books That Need More Attention Giveaway Hop

Welcome to my first Giveaway Hop! I chose a book that has a genre that needs more attention! Thank you Stuck In Books for hosting this giveaway. And thank you Ashley Ladd for sponsoring this giveaway!

About the Book:
Brooks and Rique desperately want to win a coveted chef’s job offered by an eccentric millionaire in paradise. Even more, Rique desperately wants to stay alive.

Brooks and Rique desperately want to win the head chef’s position offered by an eccentric millionaire Jonah Verleun on his beautiful, private but peculiar island that includes a zoo full of exotic animals, an amusement park and a monster shark tank beneath Jonah’s bedroom floor. While Brooks wants the job to escape his heartache and the lover who thwarted him, Rique is hiding from the mob, hoping to live long enough to pay them off with the prize winnings. Fierce competitors, they cook up a storm in a series of cooking challenges while trying to turn down the heat on their intense attraction. When a hurricane strikes the island, the storm Rique has been cooking up explodes, and no heart—or body—is safe.

Why I Write Contemporary Romance (And MM)
By Ashley Ladd
I love contemporary romance. I like to think that if I was single again I could still find romance and fall in love again. I’d also like for my unattached children to experience love and romance.
Within contemporary romance I sometimes write romantic comedies, paranormal, and also different couplings: MF/MM/MMF/MFM/MMM/and transgender.
A lot of readers want to know why I write MM and transgender romance.
People are people are people.
It’s that simple.
Romance comes in many forms. It’s not only for male/female couples no matter what some people want. The problem is that we’re all unique and all have different views.
My oldest child is transgender female. Not only that, she stayed married to her wife after her sex change. And guess what? They’re happier now than ever. They’re also one of the happiest, strongest couples I know.
Another very happy couple I know is my good friend Michael and his long-time partner.
These two couples are much happier than almost all the straight MF couples I know. I don’t know if it’s because they try harder because of the many social obstacles they come up against, or if they’re more willing to live and let live and forgive each other’s faults and foibles.
Also, I write romantica or in other words, erotic romance. I started writing sweet romance but the longer I wrote, the further open the bedroom door widened. A famous author who also wrote erotica suggested I try it and I’ve never looked back. I enjoy sex. I fantasize and dream about it. It’s a beautiful part of love. That said, reviewers have noted I write a complete romance story that also has erotica. I don’t write stories that are merely filled with sex. I love the story, the romantic journey and all the emotions and fun things that go with it, not only the sexual encounters.

I’m giving away a copy of ‘Cooking Up A Storm’, one of my MM erotic romances. It’s a celebration of love, not merely male-male romance.

Excerpt:
They ran, hunched over, zigging and zagging as bullets flew around them. Rique damned himself for putting Brooks in this mess. He wondered if the mob held the others prisoner and that’s why they didn’t answer the door.
He turned the first corner they came upon and then the next. He stopped dead and the air left his lungs. A moment later Brooks ran into his back almost knocking him over. He swayed dangerously but managed to stay upright and spread his arms wide to keep Brooks from stumbling forward.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. One of Jonah’s tigers lay in their path crouching low, baring his teeth, and eying them as if they were dinner.
He tried to quell the jitters attacking his stomach so the animal wouldn’t smell his fear then whispered to Brooks through clenched teeth, “What do we do now? Freeze or run?”
“Run. But where?” Brooks whispered back, a frown trembling on his lips.
“To the closest protection.” He prayed their hunters had lost them, that they wouldn’t run back into a barrage of bullets. As Rique bunched his muscles to run, already feeling the animal’s fangs ripping into him, he noted how the tiger’s thick muscles corded in his shoulders, and how saliva ran down his snarling lips.
“Dear God, we’re going to die.” Panic laced Brooks’ voice. “If we get out of here alive, let’s both turn down the job and move in together.”
Swallowing hard, Rique couldn’t reply so he nodded. Besides, as much as he wanted to live with Brooks, he couldn’t do it as long as he was indebted to the mob. However, the point was moot. He couldn’t see a scenario in which one of them didn’t die in the next five minutes.
Feeling responsible, Rique couldn’t let anything happen to Brooks as long as he was alive. He would take on the tiger giving Brooks time to reach safety. “On the count of three, run!”
As Rique whispered, “One,” hisses, then a blood-curdling growl wrenched the air. It was a different sound than the tiger was making. Then a crocodile bellowed and jumped out of the bushes and snatched the tiger by its belly. As it dragged the struggling creature back to the bushes, the tiger howled in surprise and pain. It clawed the air in vain as the reptile’s powerful jaws clamped tighter biting through flesh and bone.
