About the author:

Jessica Gibson is a recovering bookaholic, she's down from four books a week to a more reasonable one. It was that love of words and creativity that made her dream about writing her first book. That dream was hidden for years, always put on the back burner, filed away in the "someday" section, until her husband Matt gave her the kick in the pants she needed to actually get off her butt and write.
Jessica and Matt live in Southern California and have a serious addiction to reality tv shows like Pawn Stars and American Restoration. They have one amazing son who runs circles around them both.
Aside from writing, she runs an online event planning business called the Release Day Diva.

First love is the sweetest.... Jax and Jacey are everyone's favorite couple, even though they've barely kissed. In kindergarten, Jax pulled out a chair for Jacey and swept the play dough off so that she would sit down next to him and he's been carving out ways for them to stick together ever since. Though everyone in their conservative, small beach town sees them as a couple, they're not, exactly. Because while they both want more, they've agreed to wait. Jacey works hard, respects her elders and follows every spoken and silent rule about fitting in and doing the ‘right’ thing. She doesn't dare give the gossips more fodder from her family, so she's kept Jax firmly in the friendzone. It takes a hurricane for her to realize timing is everything, but months later she’s still too afraid to put her heart on the line and tell him how she feels. Then plans change – hers for summer and his for college, and Jacey needs to make the most of the time she and Jax have left, or stay stuck in the land of missed beginnings forever

Excerpt:

William watched her fingers move smoothly through her hair, with an odd expression on his face. Looking up, she found him staring at her, and smiled shyly. She had been so absorbed in telling him the dream that she had forgotten he wasn’t wearing a shirt; now that was all she could think about. She could almost feel the heat coming off of him, and she shifted a little on the bed. The look in his eyes was unmistakable now, and she got up quickly. She had stayed in his room far too long and he was wearing too little clothing for her comfort.

He got up as well and pulled her into his arms, kissing her so fiercely it took her breath away. Her head got a little foggy, and she was enjoying the feeling of his bare skin under her hands and the tiny jolts of electricity running all over her body. The voice in the back of her head telling her to get out was quickly being drowned out by the much louder voice shouting at her to stay.

As though he could hear her mental argument with herself, he pulled away and stepped back a few steps. “You should probably go,” he said in a husky voice. “If you don’t we’ll end up doing something we’ll both regret in the morning, and I don’t want us to end this before it’s even started.” He stepped closer, brushed his thumb across her swollen lips, and kissed her on the cheek. “I’ll see you in the morning, Jilly. Sleep well.”

She hadn’t spoken at all; she just nodded her head to whatever he had been saying. She stumbled back to her room and collapsed back into bed, her body melting into the mattress as though all of her bones had gone missing. She slept like the dead until morning.

Interview:

1      Where did you get the idea for the novel?
Mark of the Witch sort of just sprang out of my love for all things paranormal. Plus I love witchy books. Jilly just sort of spilled out.

2      Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title?
It was originally called Marked, but a few of my friends and I came up with Mark of the Witch. It had a better ring to it

3      Which came first, the title or the novel?
The book came first for sure. With any book I write, I need to get to know the characters before I pick a title.

4      Why did you pick this genre? What do you like about it?
I love the idea of magic, and all things paranormal, so I knew I wanted to write paranormal. What I love about it is that you can make anything happen. There’s nothing too weird or fantastical. I can let my imagination run wild.

5      Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?
For me it’s exciting when someone tells me they love my book. I get a kick out of it.

6      What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?
Currently I’m reading Flutter by Melissa Andrea, she’s an indie as well, and it’s really good!!

7      What was your first book that you ever wrote (very first one you wrote, not published)?
Um, really the first book I wrote was Mark of the Witch. I know a lot of authors will say that they’ve been writing their whole lives, but I have not lol.

8      What is your writing process?
I have to have music when I write, it helps the creative juices flow. Anything moody.

9      Who are your favorite authors of all time?
Wow, so many lol. Diana Gabaldon, Stephanie Nelson, Jeaniene Frost, Andrea DiGiglio, J.K Rowling, C.G. Powell, Charlaine Harris, Olivia Hardin, and too many more to name lol

10   At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?
I love to write a little note, it feels more personal. As a reader myself I love when an author I like makes it more personal. I usually keep it somewhat book related for the note.

11   What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I have to be wearing socks all the time. Pretty much unless I have sandals on, I have to be wearing socks. It’s weird, I know it is, but I need to have them on.

12   How do you react to a bad review?
I wallow for 5 minutes and then read the review again and see what I can learn from it. Sometimes bad reviews can be good, they teach you things about what you can improve on.

13   How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I had an online release party for the fans, and I went to dinner with my husband and son.

Book Tour: Mark Of The Witch by Jessica Gibson Review

Mark of the Witch by Jessica Gibson

Format: E-book

Summary from Amazon:
Magic flows through Jillian Proctor's veins as surely as blood, but so far her life outside Boston has been peaceful. William Morgan blows into Jilly's life like a hurricane, unleashing her magic and sending her out of control. Unknowingly, William brings an enemy who only wants to posses the power of the witch. Jilly must learn to harness her magic before she loses it - and everything in her life is destroyed.

Review:
At first, I thought that it was moving really fast. They would tell each other all about themselves (things you wouldn't tell someone you just met) when they had just met. But I think it was to give you some background for the rest of the book. Once it got past the beginning, it got really interesting and things weren't so rushed anymore. I only wished that we got to see more romance between Jilly and William, but it was still really good. I loved that Caroline finally accepted who she was. I also really loved the very beginning where it showed them as little girls then teens. It really helped you understand them and their background.  I loved the name of her salon, Shear Magic!
I am interested in what happens next! Anyone want to read about magic and witches or if you just have an afternoon with nothing to do, I recommend this book.

4/5 stars.
