Book Tour: Rescue Me by Jody Vitek Excerpt & Giveaway

BLURB:
Can Catherine accept the consequences of a great-aunt's dying wish without losing her heart or independence?

Taking in stray, injured or needy animals, veterinarian doctor Catherine Mornelli opens the Four Hooves and Paws Rescue program. But the land where the animals are kept is being sold. She approaches her Great-Aunt Elaine about possibly using her barn. However, visiting her aunt and checking out the barn also means seeing her ex-boyfriend.

Josef Garrison farms land that once belonged to his family for generations but went to his neighbor Elaine after his great-grandfather lost it in a poker game to Catherine’s great-grandfather. When Catherine returns, he sees a way to win back her heart and the land at the same time.

EXCERPT:
Catherine met him on the steps. “I didn’t expect you here so soon.”

“Well, if there’s water in the basement, ya don’t have time to waste.” Josef walked to the back of the truck and opened the tailgate. “I brought my pump to get the water out. Then we’ll assess the damage.”

Josef wiggled his way into water waders, put a bulky roll of tubing over his shoulder and grabbed the large pumping mechanism. “I’m assuming ya haven’t gone down there yet?” He peered back at her.

“I tried, but I couldn’t do it.”

“What is it with you and that basement?” He set the pump on the ground. “Ever since you were little, you’ve never liked going down there. You afraid of the boogeyman getting you?” He chuckled, but she didn’t find it funny.

“No. Maybe it’s the steep narrow stairs, stone walls, dirt floor and lack of windows down there. I don’t know. I get crept out.”

“Well, let’s get to work.” Josef walked in and straight for the basement.

“What do you want me to do?” She followed as far as the top of the stairwell.

He turned on the second step and looked at her. “Come stay at my place.” He stated it plain and simple, continuing down the wooden staircase and stepped into water. He turned with a stern face. “Shit, Catherine! Why didn’t you shut the water off?” and disappeared from site.

She winced. It couldn’t be helped. She tried going into the basement but couldn’t. There was mumbling from the basement, but nothing clear could be made out because of the splashing. He probably cursed her with each step.

Book Tour: Reforming the Cowboy by Marisa Cleveland Interview & Giveaway

BLURB:
Country singer Billy Hardy needs to get back on the charts. His manager assures him headlining the opening of a cafe in South Beach is his best chance at getting back to the big time. If he fails, his career is over for good this time.

Lacey Durant can't believe opening night includes the country singer she crushed on through college. And her customers agree he's dreamy. But his playboy reputation threatens her cafe's image and she can't afford that. She insists Billy stay with her so she can keep an eye on him, and thwart overenthusiastic fans.

Billy's charms and Lacey's sexy curves prove more than either can resist, but she refuses to be just another lyric in his well-known songs of heartbreak.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
Even if she’d yelled or screamed or cried, he couldn't have released her, and that thought should have scared the hell out of him. But she’d said his name on a whisper. A plea. He heard a hundred different intonations in his name on her lips, and a faint succession of single tones formed a melody in his mind. She was his muse, the reason he heard music again after silence for so long.
He knew he’d write a song about this moment. This indecision about letting someone in, letting someone sneak by the armor and the shields and the protective wall built to keep intruders away. Was Lacey his intruder?
His resolve crumbled. Hell, maybe he never had any to begin with.
INTERVIEW:
1. Where did you get the idea for the novel?
Ideas for novels hit me from every angle, and usually when I least expect it. But the actual idea for Reforming the Cowboy stemmed from The Voice. I rarely watch t.v., but one night I put down a book to watch Blake Shelton. It was crazy for me to stop reading because of a t.v. show. I blogged about it here: http://marisacleveland.wordpress.com/2013/09/21/because-of-blake-shelton/.
2. Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title?
My title was originally South Beach Serenade, but my managing editor is fabulously talented, and during a late night brainstorming session, she suggested Reforming the Cowboy. I fell in love immediately!
3. Why did you pick this genre? What do you like about it?
I've always loved contemporary romance novels, and category-length ones are perfect for hopping on the stationary bike or treadmill and forgetting about time while reading. I love that moment when a couple falls in love, and I'm drawn to how real relationships form in today's societies.
4. Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?
What a great question! The first time I told someone I was a writer, and meant it, was surreal for me. Since that moment when I considered myself a writer, so many exciting things have happened, but the most exciting thing has to be when my hubby finished my first novella ever published and told me how amazing it was!
5. What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?
The last book I read was Jaime Rush's Dragon Awakened (releasing in December). I snagged an arc at RWA.
6. What is your writing process?
I'm not sure I have a standard writing process. I drink espresso and stretch (splits and bridges) before settling down to write. That's about it.
7. At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?
My book is digital, and I've never offered Authorgraph, so I don't know how I would sign my name or what I would say. Maybe one day...
8. What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
Ooooh. That's tough. Surprised... surprised... I'm not sure there's anything surprising about me.
9. How do you react to a bad review?
Not very maturely. I definitely don't have that thick skin people say you need to be an author. But my process for that is pretty standard. I cuddle with my hubby and cry. Then, I say I'm never going to read another review again, and I say I'm never going to write another word again. After I'm done sobbing, I rekindle my love of the written word by reading other people's books. Then, I write again. I can't not write.
10. How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
The sale happened during the summer of 2012, and from what I remember, there was champagne and lots of cuddling.
Book Tour: After The Fall by Ariadne Wayne Interview
New Adult Romance
Date Published: 7/26/13
Blurb:
The first time Natalie and Alex met, Natalie fell hard. Literally. The pair embark on a 3 month fling and after the fall Alex leaves the country. Natalie struggles to get on with her life and as it turns out, Alex can’t forget her either
Torn between what he feels for Natalie and loyalty to his father, Alex makes a choice that will change his life forever. But his overwhelming need to regain his father’s respect could ruin everything.
Interview:
1.   Where did you get the idea for the novel?
It was only going to be a short story at first but then I worked out how the characters would meet and they just wouldn’t stay apart. After the first two books I wrote I also wanted to set something in New Zealand.
2.   Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title?
I came up with the title. When I started out it was called In The Rain because it was raining when Natalie and Alex met but After The Fall seemed a bit more appropriate with Natalie’s fall at the start and the time of the year.
3.   Why did you pick this genre? What do you like about it?
After writing erotic romance I wanted to do something still steamy but a bit less explicit and more drama. New adult was a great fit for it as I don’t think After The Fall really fits into erotic romance or simply romance.
4.   Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?
The first review I got was a 5 star and I loved that someone had read my book and got me.
5.   What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?
Stardust – Mimi Strong
6.   What is your writing process?
It’s very haphazard. I work full time and have two children who keep me busy the rest of the time so I squeeze in writing where I can and it tends to be a jumble at first until I get to organizing it.  I do try to plot but also go with the flow and sometimes end up all kinds of places.
7.   At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?
I’ve signed one book so far and it was for a friend so she told me what she wanted me to write. I hadn’t even thought that far ahead to be honest, I suppose I had better!
8.   What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I collect comic books and I’m a huge Batman fan.  If they ever made Batman available on Kindle Worlds to write about I would be right there!
9.   How do you react to a bad review?
Move onto the next thing. Everyone has different tastes and I don’t like everything so I don’t expect everyone to like what I write. Sometimes they can be really helpful too.
10.                  How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I told my husband I’d written a book! It had been a long time since I had written anything and I kept it to myself until that point. He was surprised to say the least.
