Brooks and Rique desperately want to win the head chef’s position offered by an eccentric millionaire Jonah Verleun on his beautiful, private but peculiar island that includes a zoo full of exotic animals, an amusement park and a monster shark tank beneath Jonah’s bedroom floor. While Brooks wants the job to escape his heartache and the lover who thwarted him, Rique is hiding from the mob, hoping to live long enough to pay them off with the prize winnings. Fierce competitors, they cook up a storm in a series of cooking challenges while trying to turn down the heat on their intense attraction. When a hurricane strikes the island, the storm Rique has been cooking up explodes, and no heart—or body—is safe.

Why I Write Contemporary Romance (And MM)
By Ashley Ladd
I love contemporary romance. I like to think that if I was single again I could still find romance and fall in love again. I’d also like for my unattached children to experience love and romance.
Within contemporary romance I sometimes write romantic comedies, paranormal, and also different couplings: MF/MM/MMF/MFM/MMM/and transgender.
A lot of readers want to know why I write MM and transgender romance.
People are people are people.
It’s that simple.
Romance comes in many forms. It’s not only for male/female couples no matter what some people want. The problem is that we’re all unique and all have different views.
My oldest child is transgender female. Not only that, she stayed married to her wife after her sex change. And guess what? They’re happier now than ever. They’re also one of the happiest, strongest couples I know.
Another very happy couple I know is my good friend Michael and his long-time partner.
These two couples are much happier than almost all the straight MF couples I know. I don’t know if it’s because they try harder because of the many social obstacles they come up against, or if they’re more willing to live and let live and forgive each other’s faults and foibles.
Also, I write romantica or in other words, erotic romance. I started writing sweet romance but the longer I wrote, the further open the bedroom door widened. A famous author who also wrote erotica suggested I try it and I’ve never looked back. I enjoy sex. I fantasize and dream about it. It’s a beautiful part of love. That said, reviewers have noted I write a complete romance story that also has erotica. I don’t write stories that are merely filled with sex. I love the story, the romantic journey and all the emotions and fun things that go with it, not only the sexual encounters.

I’m giving away a copy of ‘Cooking Up A Storm’, one of my MM erotic romances. It’s a celebration of love, not merely male-male romance.

Excerpt:
They ran, hunched over, zigging and zagging as bullets flew around them. Rique damned himself for putting Brooks in this mess. He wondered if the mob held the others prisoner and that’s why they didn’t answer the door.
He turned the first corner they came upon and then the next. He stopped dead and the air left his lungs. A moment later Brooks ran into his back almost knocking him over. He swayed dangerously but managed to stay upright and spread his arms wide to keep Brooks from stumbling forward.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. One of Jonah’s tigers lay in their path crouching low, baring his teeth, and eying them as if they were dinner.
He tried to quell the jitters attacking his stomach so the animal wouldn’t smell his fear then whispered to Brooks through clenched teeth, “What do we do now? Freeze or run?”
“Run. But where?” Brooks whispered back, a frown trembling on his lips.
“To the closest protection.” He prayed their hunters had lost them, that they wouldn’t run back into a barrage of bullets. As Rique bunched his muscles to run, already feeling the animal’s fangs ripping into him, he noted how the tiger’s thick muscles corded in his shoulders, and how saliva ran down his snarling lips.
“Dear God, we’re going to die.” Panic laced Brooks’ voice. “If we get out of here alive, let’s both turn down the job and move in together.”
Swallowing hard, Rique couldn’t reply so he nodded. Besides, as much as he wanted to live with Brooks, he couldn’t do it as long as he was indebted to the mob. However, the point was moot. He couldn’t see a scenario in which one of them didn’t die in the next five minutes.
Feeling responsible, Rique couldn’t let anything happen to Brooks as long as he was alive. He would take on the tiger giving Brooks time to reach safety. “On the count of three, run!”
As Rique whispered, “One,” hisses, then a blood-curdling growl wrenched the air. It was a different sound than the tiger was making. Then a crocodile bellowed and jumped out of the bushes and snatched the tiger by its belly. As it dragged the struggling creature back to the bushes, the tiger howled in surprise and pain. It clawed the air in vain as the reptile’s powerful jaws clamped tighter biting through flesh and bone.

NOTE: THIS BOOK BLAST IS TO PROMOTE THE BOOKS FREE KDP DAYS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Sean and Darby love food - but is their relationship a recipe for disaster - Or a chance to make kitchen magic?
Find out in Dinner for Two, Book 1 in The Queensbay contemporary romance series
Sean Callahan was a hot shot big city chef whose high handed ways got him into trouble one too many times. Now he's in a small town hoping for another shot at the big leagues.
Darby Reese is a big city lawyer who can bake like an angel. Unfortunately, a life lived according to the law has left her burned out. So when the chance comes to run her family's deli in the small town of Queensbay, Darby's happy to take it.
But when Sean, the former chef du jour walks into her kitchen, she's definitely not prepared for sparks to fly. Will the two of them be able to find the recipe for happily ever after?
Book one in the Queensbay Series, a contemporary romance series.
EXCERPT:
“Fancy meeting you here.” Sean Callahan’s voice floated up and she jumped, hitting her head on the inside of the counter.
“It is my deli,” she said when she finally came up, resisting the urge to rub the back of her head where she had hit it. The look of amusement in Sean’s eye was enough to have her folding her hands across her chest and do her best to stare him down. Two days, she reminded herself. It had been two days since he had kissed her and nearly lifted her straight out of her socks.
“I have the afternoon off tomorrow,” he said, grinning at her. “I was thinking, since you’re a hometown girl, that perhaps we could go on a drive, that maybe you could show me around a bit.”
“Haven’t you already been here a couple of months?” she said. “Because this sounds like another one of your pick-up lines. Are you planning on running out of gas on Lover’s Lane?”
“Never heard of it,” he said quickly and in a deadpan voice. It earned him a smile. “But I’ve been living in the hotel since I got here and I realized that I haven’t really left it, since I was so busy getting everything up and running with the restaurant. But finally, things are where I want them and I feel like I can, actually should, step back a little, see what the team at the restaurant can do without me. So I thought an afternoon off, with you, might be a nice way to test the theory out.”
“Are you asking me out on a date?”
He shook his head. “If that’s what you want. Or,” he amended, before she could answer, “how about we call it me-asking-a-local-to-show-me-around outing. We can sit next to each other, in the car, and talk to each other, get to know one another.”
“I already know you,” she pointed out, moving down the counter to straighten her jar of homemade granola.
He followed. “True, but I was hoping we could start over. Pretend that all the stuff in the past didn’t happen.”
Book Tour: The Cattleman by Anna Jeffrey Excerpt & Giveaway
BLURB:
Ever since a disastrous marriage and divorce at a young age, Pickett Lockhart has kept his emotions under control. He’s preoccupied anyway with learning to be the general manager of the vast Double-Barrel Ranch outside of Drinkwell, Texas. Still, his older brother’s marriage and looming fatherhood has aroused an envy within him to have a wife, kids and home of his own. But he can’t get married, even to a woman he loves who also loves him. His divorce cost him and his family a bundle, leaving him with an overwhelming fear of stepping into another financial trap.
Amanda Breckenridge, swim team coach and English teacher in Drinkwell High School, has been in love with Pic for as long as she can remember. They were high school sweethearts. After  he eloped with someone he met in college, Amanda left Drinkwell. Her father’s illness brought her back to town and a revived relationship with Pic. But Pic’s mother has never thought Amanda was good enough for him. She intends to destroy their relationship by sending a friend’s beautiful daughter to the ranch to tempt Pic. Can Amanda and Pic’s bond survive his mother and her schemes? Or the unexpected career opportunity that falls into Amanda’s lap?
EXCERPT:
Chapter 1
Standing at a dark-tinted window wall, sipping at a Crown and water, Pickett Charles Lockhart looked out from the Petroleum Club’s cocktail lounge in downtown Fort Worth. Suffocated. That was the word that described how he felt.
Forty stories below, vehicles that looked like toy cars moved through the city streets. Low-hanging clouds in a leaden sky teased with the possibility of longed-for rain. Relief from the relentless drought ought to make any man in an agriculture business— as he was—happy. But Pic only hoped to hell those clouds didn’t gin up a storm and a big blow while he was still on the fortieth floor of this building. He didn’t mind high places if his feet were firmly planted on God’s earth, but a high-rise building made him dizzy. No way could he ever adapt to life in a skyscraper in the city where his older brother Drake had lived the last few years. Trying to overcome a powerful urge to bolt, he took a step backward.
His younger half-brother, Troy Rattigan, who enjoyed nothing more than yanking his chain, looked at him across his shoulder and chuckled. “What’s the matter, Bro? All that space out there make you queasy?”
Pic ignored the dig, running his finger around the inside of his collar. His tie threatened to choke him. He couldn’t remember the last time he had worn one. “April first,” he groused. “Helluva day to get married, if you ask me.”
