Fury of Obsession by Coreene Callahan Excerpt & Giveaway

BLURB:
Dragon-warrior Venom lives in self-imposed isolation. Cursed by his toxic touch, he is deadly to anyone who has contact with him for too long. Set apart from others and hounded by intense loneliness, he craves the lasting connection he believes he cannot possess. Until a chance encounter with a sultry mortal offers a ray of hope…

Evelyn Foxe is the woman of Venom’s every desire, but she’s too busy running from the Russian mob to think about love. As she accepts Venom’s offer to help her escape her precarious situation, she’s skeptical, afraid that he’s in league with those sent to harm her. But when a biological weapon is unleashed in her hometown, Evelyn is forced to trust Venom—or risk the dangers of going it alone.

Will they survive the firestorm that rages around them? And can they pull from the ashes a love that will defy all the odds and last through the ages?

EXCERPT:
Instinct whispered in her ear, plying her with suspicion. She frowned. What was his game? He must be running one. Venom wasn’t stupid. Far from it. Which meant he must’ve known. Must’ve guessed what would happen— that he wouldn’t be able to hide his scalier side from her forever.

Or maybe he’d simply planned on lying to her . . . ad infinitum.

The thought tugged at her temper. An odd reaction. Not at all warranted. She didn’t own the right to be pissed off at him. Anger didn’t belong in the equation. She’d planned to use him for money. He’d wanted her for sex. A simple exchange. No fuss. No muss. And yet, the idea of him being dishonest with her woke something primal. Something dangerous. Something that shoved her toward the truth. The thought of Venom lying to her more than bothered her. It infuriated her, violated her sense of . . . of . . . well, she didn’t know exactly. Right and wrong? Her sense of self-worth? A healthy dose of pride, maybe? No clue. But whatever the catalyst, it lit the fuse, setting moral indignation on fire, tipping the balance, making her throw caution to the wind.

Eyes narrowed, she scowled up at him. “Venom.”

“Almost there, mazleiha.”

“Where are we going?”

“Somewhere safe.”

“Will your dragon friends be there?”

Her clipped tone made him glance down. She glared at him.

A wary light entered his eyes. “No. It’ll just be you and me for a while.”

“Good,” she said, hot sauce in her tone. “We need to talk.”

“You gonna take it easy on me?”

“No.”

He grimaced. “That’s what I thought.”

Wrong Side of the Grave by Bryna Butler Excerpt & Giveaway

BLURB:
When the dearly departed of Point Pleasant start walking and talking, the Men in Black mark Mothman as suspect number one. A fun read, Wrong Side of the Grave is a fast-action Teen Sci-Fi Mystery with a paranormal twist.

Parent Approved: Contains no profanity or sexual content.

EXCERPT:
“You look at me as if you know me.”

“I like to think I do.” I keep it light and flash her a flirty grin as I continue to be clever. “I’m not lying when I say that from the first moment I saw you, I wanted to get you alone.”

Kendall seems amused by my response. Her lips tighten to a thin line, pulling up in the corners. She turns from me but keeps her hold on my hand, pulling me a few slow steps away from the door.

“Honestly, I don’t know why I bother trying to make these connections,” she says. She doesn’t look at me while she says it, but I’m looking at her. She walks like she’s dancing. Her movements are so graceful they nearly defy gravity.

I watch as Kendall’s blond curls bounce against her back with each careful step around the mud. I watch as her arms swing open for balance. Her pale skin catches the moonlight so that it glistens.

“I suppose it’s my age showing,” she continues, not paying a bit of attention to me. “I’ve become a granny rambling on about who’s related to who. I need to learn that it doesn’t matter in the scheme of things. Whether we have met before is of no consequence this close to the end.”

I laugh. That’s just like the old ones. Slipping up when they think they’re safe; when they think they’re in control. To her, I’m already dead.

Dream Girl by S. J. Lomas Excerpt & Giveaway

BLURB:
For Christine, dreams have never meant much. Until she meets Gabriel. Everyone thinks Christine should stay away from her new coworker at the library-thanks to his bad reputation-but when her dreams grow more vivid and she becomes entangled in a dangerous dream world with Gabriel every night, she can't stay away. Soon it's clear there is far more to dreams than Christine ever imagined, and now she's on the path to making the biggest, and strangest, decision of her life.

EXCERPT:
I walked down a moonlit street. It smelled like smoldering autumn leaves but there was no chill in the air. Wind slowly blew through the trees and made their leaves whisper. Everything else was quiet.

The wind curled around me, but this time it brought a few drops of rain with it. Glancing at the sky, I noticed clouds gathering over the moon. It dawned on me that I should get back home and go to bed. I looked around and, for the first time, realized I wasn’t in my neighborhood. This neighborhood resembled a set from a musical rather than a real street. The houses were big and imposing, like something from My Fair Lady. At any moment, I expected to see Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn strolling toward me. The thought of wandering through an old movie scene, alone, at night caused cold goose bumps to rise on my arms. Keep it together, Christine. I tried to stay reasonable.

Was it safer to go back the way I’d come or keep going into unknown territory? I didn’t remember going for a walk anyway. Basically, turning back was no different than continuing on. I took another quick scan of the street to see if anyone else was out. Nothing stirred. Even the wind had deserted me.

I tried to grab hold of my courage. There had to be a logical explanation for this and it wasn’t like I could have wandered too far from home. I decided my best bet was to turn around and go the way I’d apparently come. Maybe something would look familiar eventually and I’d be snuggled in my bed soon.

I turned and the wind rushed past my ears. “Christine,” it sighed, producing the effect of ice water dripping down my spine. The voice was soft, but I had not imagined it.
