REVIEW:

This is not the first book in the series and no, I didn't read the others first. But at the beginning it says that it is part of the series but can be a stand alone. But to really enjoy you should read all of them. Since I had not read the first ones, when I started this book and was a little into it, it seemed really fast and didn't go into depth about who each person was but I eventually got it. 

I felt like you got to know Dante and Haley well in this book. Throughout the whole book, you get bits and pieces of their background. The only thing was that we didn't really get to see them fall for each other. She was in love with him since one of the other books (i think) and he cared for her too, then in this book they were like bam, sex and now we have to be together forever. Which meant different things for them both. We did get to see them learn to trust each other which was nice.

On last thing, when they get hot and steamy, it means Hot and Steamy! LOL

The skinwalker—part man, part coyote—shifted into his human form as he gazed upon the young woman, his quarry. She removed her clothes and dropped them onto the cool, desert sand. She gave him a lustful glance as if she was the one controlling the seduction. “Nice trick with the coyote. Are you a magician?” Her words were slurred. But the trance hadn’t taken hold.

“Something like that,” he answered. He felt a flush of heat on his face. How the hell was she still aware? Something wasn’t right. This Kithra was different than the others, and he wasn’t sure why. He slid his hands over her arms and sparks skidded across her skin.

“I love the desert at night,” she added as her eyelids flickered. The air around her body crackled with electricity, her short, blonde hair stood out from the static. Not his usual choice for Kithras. He preferred ones with long, dark hair like the Drones from Prygos. It had to be her level of energy that drew him to this one.

“Yes,” he murmured, then waved his hand over her face, deepening the trance with little effort. He extended a finger and ran it down the side of her cheek, her neck, between her small breasts and cut diagonally across her flat stomach to her narrow hips.

Meet Haley, Sha Warrior

     First of all, thanks so much for inviting me to your blog today to talk about my heroine Haley Moore from my new release Damned and Defiant released 8/15/12 at Ellora’s Cave. And thanks to the readers for their continued support and for visiting today.

     Haley was a fun character to write. She’s from what some people would call the wrong side of the tracks. People have called her dirt road trailer park trash. Can’t get much lower than that. She also comes from tragedy which is revealed in Damned and Defiant. She’s determined to escape that label, escape her past and make a life and name for herself and gain respect. She’s defiant about it. Dante, the hero and demon is also defiant in his goals, but are his goals the right ones? Haley challenges him, makes him face himself and go to the dark places he doesn’t want to go. Haley discovers that she too, can’t hide from her dark past.

     Haley claims to have psychic abilities. Some of her skills include seeing auras and horse whispering.

 In Texas, she worked with horses and knows them well. Dante needs a horse whisperer so he can bring his horses into his demon world.

     The few friends she’s made in Sedona thinks she’s a bit quirky and don’t necessarily believe in her psychic abilities but she’s well liked, a hard worker and has a big heart.  

Dante knows differently when it comes to her psychic skills. He detects that she has exceptional powers, many have yet to be developed. Haley is what his kind call a Sha Warrior—a mortal with naturally high essence of lifeforce energy. A gold mind for the demons of his world. The demons need to collect lifeforce energy in order to survive and Haley has a fountain of energy. It’s like the life-blood for vampires. Dante is torn between his feelings for her and using her source of power for his kind. Other demons want her for their own personal gain.

     Haley may seem a bit flighty but she has guts. She’s a survivor and when she knows what she wants, she has a defiant will and courage to fight for it.
