Empath and Pathcrosser to the dead, Lillian Hunt has finally come into her own as a Sentient being. All seems well in her brave new world...that is, until a tragic turn sends her tight knit Sentient group on a rescue mission through lore-infested Europe. Their goal is to save the love of Lily's life—vampire Sentient, William Maddox — from both the prejudice of their own society and the dark intentions of ancient vampires. But how will they keep hope alive, even as time runs out?

Interview

1.   Where did you get the idea for the novel?
Circle of Light is part of a three book series that centers around the lives of human beings with gifted souls. The idea unraveled as I went along. When I started the first book in the series (Seers of Light), I really didn’t know what was going to happen. The only thing I knew for sure was that there would be an undertone of hope and passion for life and inner strength.

2.   Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title?
Hah! Well, actually, I’d wanted to name the third book Circle of Light for a long time, but I’d changed my mind for a while because my friends joked that it reminded them of a song from the Lion King. In the end I decided to stick with it, though, because the story coming full circle is pretty spot on.

3.   Which came first, the title or the novel?
In the case of the third book, the title. For the first and second, though…the novel.

4.   Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?
Hm. I’d have to say it’s a tie between movie people showing interest and hitting some Amazon best sellers lists.

5.   What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?
I just started a book by Bill Bryson about Australia. He travels around the world and then writes about his experiences comedically. My best friend swears his stuff is hilarious, so, I’m excited to dig in.

6.   What was your first book that you ever wrote (very first one you wrote, not published)?
I’d started many novels when I was younger, but Seers of Light was the first I’d ever finished…and it also happened to be the first I’d ever had published.

7.   What is your writing process?
For the first book in a series or a stand alone book I go into it with a rough idea of what I want it to be about/events I’d like to see happen and let that guide me, but for the most part, if I’m just starting out from scratch and it’s not book two or later in a series, I write by the seat of my pants, letting the story unravel and alter as I go along.

8.   Who are your favorite authors of all time?
JKR, for sure, and Stephen King.

9.   At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?
I totally write a note! And whatever encouraging thing comes to mind at the time, I go with it.

10.                 What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I’m a musician all my life, as well, and I’ve actually written songs for each of my books.

11.                 How do you react to a bad review?
I shrug it off. I’ve always said that the people who are meant to love my books will love them, and those who aren’t, won’t. If I’m writing from my heart, then I’m proud of my work no matter what anyone else’s opinions are.

12.                 How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I had a book launch party and invited a ton of friends. It was a blast! We rented out a space and a buddy catered the event…we did live music. Great memory.

  1. Wow, this sounds interesting. I bet I'll need to read books #1 & 2 first, though. Thank you for the opportunity, and for the intor to a new (to me) author.
