Excerpt:

She couldn’t wait any longer. She unzipped his pants and pulled them down with such force that she almost knocked both of them to the floor. He pulled her down along with him until they landed together in a heap on the carpet.
He gave out a deep laugh.

Years and years of seamless business deals, and somehow she was managing to screw this up. Always with the personal stuff, she was there to make a mess of it. “You’re laughing at my ravaging you?” she asked sheepishly, feeling her cheeks burning. “I know, I know…being with me is kind of like being in a French farce, right?”

“I’m not complaining.” Still seeming to be enjoying himself, he drew her up beside him on the carpet and kissed her.

“You gotta admit that was kind of funny. It’s okay to laugh at yourself sometimes.”

Instead of taking offense, she lightened up. “Help me, then.”

Together they managed to get his pants all the way off.

Pushing him flat onto his back, she settled herself on top and pressed her hands against the delineated muscles of his chest. He was all hers. She raised up onto her knees, and a little jab of pain made her wince.

With a harsh breath, he leaned up, a worried look on his face. “Your knee…”

“No, it’s all right.” She adjusted her astride position, settling comfortably. “There. That’s better.”

“No, this won’t work. We’ll hurt it.”

“It’s fine,” she insisted.

Unconvinced, he leaned up and grasped her thigh with one hand. “That scab still looks bad.”

“It’s all right. I promise.”

He leaned back, giving in. With a gruff sigh, he said through gritted teeth, “I should have known you’d want to be on top.”

She grinned, shifting her silky underwear along the hard length covered by his boxers. “You used to like it.”
He gritted his teeth and grasped her hips. “Sure. Use and abuse me,” he croaked out.

She examined the look on his face and bit her lower lip. Was she really torturing him? “You don’t sound too happy about it.”

“I’m not going to be able to handle much of your teasing tonight.”

All right, so she admitted she liked teasing him. He was too fun to tease, only because he took it so well. “Are you mad about—?”

In a split second, he had her flat on her back. She laughed as Quinn moved on top of her, pressing his body against hers.

“How about we do it like this?” he asked with a triumphant smile, his dark eyes exploring her face. 

Interview:

1.    Where did you get the idea for the novel?

I wanted to write a Christmas Carol-esque story, only Scrooge would be a cute career woman who’s obsessed with her job and totally out of her element with Christmas and family. I wanted her to be forced to face her feelings for the holiday and for the guy she let go of a long time ago.

2.    Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title?

I came up with the title, which is funny because I’m terrible with coming up with titles. My working title was Toying With Temptation and I stuck with it.

3.    Which came first, the title or the novel? 

The title came after I’d written the synopsis and knew roughly what the story was going to be about.

4.    Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you?

Joining my critique group while I was writing my first book. I had no idea what a good thing I’d gotten into. I learned so much and made incredible friendships. I don’t know where I’d be without my critique group…they support and inspire me every day.

5.    What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?

I just finished reading Model Marine, a Harlequin Blaze by Candace Havens. It was a fun read!

6.    What was your first book that you ever wrote (very first one you wrote, not published)?

I wrote my first “book” in sixth grade (hee hee…it makes me laugh to think about it). It was about a girl named Timerae whose school is shutting down their school newspaper and she singlehandedly sets out to save it. I feverishly threw myself into writing it, and somewhere in the middle of writing that book was probably when I realized I wanted to be a writer one day. (I wish I could remember the title of that crazy, cringe-worthy story but it was eons ago J)

7.    What is your writing process?

I’m a super-slow writer and often get frustrated at my own slowness. I’m hands-down a morning person, so I get up at a ridiculously early hour during the week so I can have a good solid hour or two to write before work. Sometimes I’m productive and sometimes not. I also don’t write a story in order; if I’m starting a book I write whatever scene happens to inspire me at that moment until I have a skeleton of scenes for the story, and then I’ll in the empty space.

8.    Who are your favorite authors of all time?

My favorite author is Colleen McCullough. I will never forget reading The Thorn Birds and An Indecent Obsession for the first time. They blew me away. I also love Stephen King and V.C. Andrews. I’m thoroughly entertained and get totally lost in another wild world with their stories. I wish I could write without fear and with so much imagination.

9.    At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say? 

I’m always thrilled to sign a book for someone, so I try to write a little note for them. It’s never brilliant or clever but it’s a little something J

10.What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

I adore Las Vegas and it’s my lifetime goal to stay at every hotel on the Strip at least once.

11.How do you react to a bad review?

I try not to let the bad reviews sting too much. No matter what story I write, it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, and it’s not going to work for everyone. I always want to give my reader her money’s worth and get better with each story. If I can read between the lines of the bad review and figure out if there are things I can do better with my next story then I’m happy J

12.How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?

I had a nice dinner with friends.
