EXCERPT:

Holly stepped out on the lanai and held up her cell phone. She breathed a sigh of relief as the bars lit up on the display. Her interlude with Harm on the beach had put her behind schedule and she couldn’t afford to be without her phone. She dialed up her voicemail and turned to look at the house.

Most of the lights were off, allowing the stars to reflect off the glass facade. But the upper corner glowed like a beacon. The sight drew her eye and her breath. Unaware of his audience stood Harm, enjoying a shower for the world to see.

Not that there would be many looking. With the rocky outcroppings along his shoreline, no boats would get close enough, and his villa was higher than the house beside his or the collection of bungalows he owned. Right now she was the only one enjoying the view.

What she wouldn’t give for a pair of binoculars so she could study his muscled physique. Water sluiced down his honed body, the showerheads attached to an interior wall. The muscles of his ass flexed as he moved, his back rippling as he pushed water from his hair.

“Come on, turn around.” Holly blinked at the sound of her own voice, unaware she’d spoken. She slipped her phone into her pocket, then looked up to find Harm had done as she wished.

“Oh my.” She pressed her hand to the base of her throat and stared.

INTERVIEW:

1.Where did you get the idea for the novel? 

I’ve never written a series of stories before, so I found an intriguing place (Anguilla) and an enigmatic family (the Prinsen’s) and let the story flow from the characters and their shared experiences. The Under the Caribbean Sun has been a creative stretch for me.

2.Your title. Who came up with it? Did you ever change your title? 

When I was planning the series, I came up with three titles – Caribbean Christmas, Caribbean Casanova & Caribbean Crush – and they all stuck. Most of the time, my editor and I toss titles back and forth.

3.Why did you pick this genre? What do you like about it? 

I love the contemporary romance genre. I read it, write it…celebrate it in any way I can.

4.Since becoming a writer, what’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to you? 

Going to New York City for the Romance Writers of America conference a few years ago. I’ve always dreamed of New York, so it was beyond amazing to find myself there.

5.What book are you currently reading or what was the last book you read? 

Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubs is playing in my minivan (audiobook), The Rules of Engagement by Ally Blake is on my nightstand, and I just finished An Outrageous Proposal by Maureen Child

6.What is your writing process? 

It’s not the most efficient, but I tend to write my way into a story. I get so excited by the spark of an idea and these intriguing new people that I start writing. I tend to find I started two chapters too early. But it all works out in the edit.

7.At a book signing, do you just sign your name or do you write a note? How do you come up with stuff to say?

 I never know what to say! I sign Happy reading, Jenna Bayley-Burke. Though…sometimes people are cheeky and I’ll tell them to enjoy a certain page number ;)

8.What is something people would be surprised to know about you? 

I can cook up a Chinese buffet in my kitchen in under an hour. Just did it tonight in fact – lettuce wraps, Mongolian beef, cashew chicken & Korean barbeque chicken with jasmine rice.

9.How do you react to a bad review? 

I don’t think a low-ranking on a review equals a bad review. If a reviewer says why it didn’t work for them I think that’s fair. Any review that takes a negative bent to demean an author is a waste of everyone’s time. Though, I’ll tell you a secret. I have a few lovely reviews bookmarked so if I ever get in a twist about a review I re-read those and get perspective.

10.  How did you celebrate the sale of your first book? 

I played ring-around-the-rosie on the front lawn with my boys.
