A weekend away at a convention is exactly what overworked student

fantasy-worthy weekend of sexy roleplaying, scorching sex and life-altering
orgasms. Still, through it all Morgan is too smart to believe the chemistry
constantly stripping her of costumes and control can last more than the length
of the convention. But if she wants to keep a relationship so intense she
thought it only existed in fiction, she’s going to have to let go of her
cool-headed logic and allow herself to fall far and fast for the perfect guy.
CREATING THE GEEKS
FOR LOOSE CORSET

I'm a geek, my husband's a geek, and all our friends are
geeks. When I read about Ellora's Cave's open call for stories fitting the
theme of Geekgasm, I couldn't resist. I wanted to read more romances and
erotica about real geeks. Coming up with characters was easy. The difficult
part was toning down the nerdiness.
Of course flushing out your characters is never that simple.
You need strengths and flaws, goals and motivations, and a preferred race and
class when playing Dungeons & Dragons. You can tell a lot about a
person by the characters they role-play.
My smart and cool-headed protagonist is Morgan Reid. She's a
student, gamer, and all-around geek girl. I connected with her immediately. A
little like using a Vulcan mind meld. Her voice was strong and clear. Morgan's
a little more cynical than I am, though. My biggest challenge with her was to
help her overcome her doubts and fall for the perfect geek guy.
Dean Bradley is that perfect geek guy. Tall, dark, and
gorgeous with the lean body of a fencer. It has been my experience that geeky
men are more sensitive and open with their emotions. Or it could be they can
calculate their chances with a woman and know when it's the right time to make
a move. I took a little of my husband and put him into Dean. I just made Dean
less socially awkward and gave him a love for playing rangers over wizards.
Emily Solis is Morgan's high-spirited best friend. She's
immensely creative, libidinous, and loves to cosplay. Emily was by far the most
difficult character for me to write. I had to make sure she was likable rather
than annoying. Geeks can be peppy too and have a love for shiny things. Like
gem dice. A girl can never have too many dice.
Then we have the villain of the story, Russell Morrison.
Well, he's the villain in their role-playing game. And Morgan has a bit of
trouble not seeing him as the bad guy. It doesn't help when Russell likes to
dress up as characters such as Snidely Whiplash. I love writing the devious and
charismatic villain. Yet as the story went on, I discovered there was a lot
more to Russell than I originally imagined. One of my favorite things is when a
character's true nature is unveiled through the process of writing a story.
I'm a character driven writer. I love to delve in deep and
draw out the good and the bad. Morgan and her friends are a unique and lovable
bunch of geeks in the genres of romance and erotica. I hope readers think
they're as unforgettable as I do.
EXCERPT:
Geek girl problem #31: Your flat-chested best friend is a cosplayer who
tries to fit you into her costumes when you’re built like Rose Tyler from
Doctor Who.
After blotting my chest with a cool paper towel, I
realized I couldn’t do the corset back up myself. And I’d left my cell back in
the room.
Think clearly. Be rational. What would the Doctor
do?
He wouldn’t be wearing this ridiculous contraption
to begin with.
The hallway where the bathrooms were was pretty
dark. Maybe I could wave Emily over. If Emily could turn her attention away
from the guys.
Taking one more deep breath, I stepped into the
hall and peered over at their table. I bit at my lower lip. Emily’s back was to
me, but Sydney might be able to see me. I waved, holding onto the corset with
one hand. When no one noticed, I wondered if I should shout.
Wait. There was an empty chair. His chair.
“Did you need a hand?” Dean’s breath was warm
against my bare shoulder.
I turned slowly. My arm brushed him as he stood so
close. With my heart pounding, I couldn’t find my voice. God, he was glorious.
And when he smiled, an impish glint shone in those sexy hazel eyes.
Two cold showers tonight. No, three.
Wetting my lips, I forced myself to say something,
anything that would be less embarrassing than just standing there drooling.
“Come to kill me in a dark alley, Sir Thorton? Catch me unaware and undo the resistance
in one silent motion?”
Dean’s grin widened. “Who said my plan was ever to
kill you? You always assume, but you know so little of my desires.”
